Training, Emoluments and Placement: Selected candidates will undergo training for a period of 2 years at various NTPC sites and will be paid a consolidated stipend of ₹ 15,500/- per month. On successful completion of training, these candidates will be absorbed in the pre-revised pay scale of ₹ 15500-3%-34500/- (W7 grade). The final place of posting will be allocated after successful completion of the training. The wage revision is due w.e.f. 01.01.2017.

Selection Process: Eligible candidates will have to undergo A stages of Online lest (Computer Based Test).
1st stage Online Test: In first stage, Online Aptitude Test (120 multiple questions) covering General English, Quantitative aptitude & Reasoning will be conducted. The duration of the test will be 2 hours. Each question carries 1 mark and 0.25 marks will be deducted for wrong answer. There is qualifying marks (40% marks in case of General category and 30% in case of SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates). The candidates will be shortlisted @ 1:10 for 2nd stage Online Test (Technical). There will be no weightage to online aptitude test in final selection.
2nd stage Online Test: In 2nd stage, Online Technical Test (120 multiple questions) in respective discipline will be conducted. The duration of the test will be 2 hours. Each question carries 1 mark and 0.25 marks will be deducted for wrong answer. There is qualifying marks (40% marks in case of General category and 30% in case of SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates). Offer of appointment may be issued based on merit. No skill test will be conducted.

Educational Qualification: Full time Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technology/ AMIE with not less than 65% marks, taking average of all the Years, irrespective of the weightage given to any particular year by the Institute/University. Selection Process:
Step 1: All interested and eligible candidates are required to appear for GATE-2018 Candidates will be shortlisted for further selection process based on the GATE-2018 performance and the requirement.
Step 2: Candidates will be short listed for further selection process (Online Behavioral/Aptitude Test, followed by GD and Interview). The final merit list will be prepared based on 85% weightage of GATE-2018 marks, 5% weightage of GD marks and 10% weightage of Interview marks.
Application Fee: A Non-refundable fee of ₹ 150/- for General / OBC Category Candidates. There is no fee for SC / ST / PwBD / XSM Category Candidates. The fee can be made either in online or offline mode.
How to Apply: Eligible Candidates, who have applied online for GATE 2018, will receive their GATE-2018 Registration Number printed on their admit card. The candidates need to apply online for NTPC ET 2018 on or before 31/01/2018.
